Ontario, Canada - For over a decade now, April Verch has mesmerized audiences with her fiddling virtuosity, flawless step dancing and soulful vocals. The April Verch Band entrances audiences around the world with their skill, energy and charm, touring on average, 250 days a year. This year they toured in China and next year they'll return to Australia. On her brand new (eighth) release, "That’s How We Run", the April Verch Band swaps hot licks with guests, like Riley Baugus, Dirk Powell, Bobby Hicks and Rayna Gellert.
An extraordinary chance to hear history entwined with the present as this first class line up of multi-instrumentalist musicians explore the regional evolution of one of North America’s richest veins of folk music. A walk down the trail of Appalachia to Ottawa Valley and Quebec with a compliment of Riley Baugus (Alison Krauss, Willie Nelson), Sammy Lind (Foghorn Trio, Dirk Powell), April Verch Band and Andre Brunet (La Bottine Souriante).

Canada/Scotland - Through the guitar hands of Scots born Tony McManus emotions of Celtic music are transferred while the listener is drawn into the driving energy of a reel or the timeless atmosphere of a lament. New on stage in trio format with with Greg Grainger and Gary Grainger. Tony recently made a guest appearance on Loreena McKennett’s new release, "The Wind That Shakes the Barley". In his own latest release, "The Maker’s Mark", (CFMA awarded Instrumental Solo Artist of the Year 2010), he explores harmonies from South Africa, the strange scales and rhythms of Eastern Europe and an achingly beautiful Baroque madrigal.
Scotland - 2012 will herald the much-awaited release of a second album by award-winning Scottish songstress Maeve Mackinnon. The new album is a heady, exciting concoction of songs in English and Gaelic, containing echoes of her much praised debut “Don’t Sing Lovesongs”, overtones of jazz and blues, and as Maeve laughingly admits, “We have gone a wee bit electric!”
Yukon, Canada - After a couple of great seasons touring their Juno nominated debut album, Annie Lou is excited to be going back into the studio with more strong songwriting and hearty old-time tunes composed by Yukon musicians Anne Louise Genest and Kim Barlow. Sprinkle on top achievements of the 2010 Western Canadian Music Award (Roots Duo/Group Album of the Year) and 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination (Ensemble of the Year), plus appearances at major Canadian folk festivals in 2010 and 2011, and Annie Lou is making their mark, for good reason, in Canadian roots music.

He is kept very busy producing memorable albums by such luminaries as Jim Byrnes, Kelly Joe Phelps, Old Man Luedecke, The Sojourners, and The Deep Dark Woods, as well as bringing the award winning Mississippi Sheiks Tribute Project to fruition.

Though mip’s musical career is blossoming in Toronto her roots are still firmly planted in her hometown of Smithers BC.

An internationally received singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and workshop leader and in most recent years a member of the highly regarded Yukon based Hungry Hill. Blessed with a voice with sweetness, clarity and power, a dynamic bluegrass performer and recording artist, Jenny Lester will be touring with a 3 - 5 piece in 2012.
New Zealand - If you want to put your finger on the pulse of a global sound, check out the Pacific Curls' experience returning to Canada July and August 2012. With an international audience rapidly growing after extensive touring at major festivals and events in Canada, UK, Borneo, Australia, South Korea, New Caledonia, Europe and Aotearoa this is a band that creates a fusion of the Pacific to Scotland.
Canada/India - Slide to Freedom finds the divine crossroads of Indian, classical and Southern sacred music on their newest cd, "20,000 Miles". It is in this latest recording with Doug Cox, Salil Bhatt and Cassius Khan that the band collaborated with Calvin Cooke, founding father of Sacred Steel, and members of electric gospel legends The Campbell Brothers, as well as special guest BettySoo, the Americana-inspired darling of Austin’s singer- songwriter scene.
