Introducing a new generation connecting urban and rural - mip’s songs project her enthusiasm for life. Her lyrics are smart, her songs are colourful, and her performances are dynamic. True heart and soul of an eccentric minstrel somewhere between folk rock and rock folk. Though mip’s musical career is blossoming in Toronto her roots are still firmly planted in her hometown of Smithers BC.

Mip and the Mip Power Trio

One freakin' awesome May day 3 ecclectic Candian musicians came together to play a “totally mipped out” set at the El Mocambo.  Mip is the brainchild of the title artist, Mip, who writes all the songs and melodies.    When percussionist Jaash Singh (Om Laila Dance Troup, Lemon Bucket Orkestra) and bassist Greg Kowalczyk (Blind Cats, Skullians) contribute to Mip's arrangements with their monstrous musical abilities, the Mip Power Trio demonstrates its full might.

Smart lyrics, quirky melodies, dynamic arrangements, and explosive live performances only begin to define the Mip Power Trio experience.  Mip is a champion of neo-retro rock n' roll embodying the spirit of vintage rock and the heart and soul of an eccentric mistrel.

Mip independently released a solo 6-song EP –Caught in Between—in early 2010.  The EP was co-produced by Eric Hogg in Victoria BC and has found an audience across Canada that describes it as “fun, fast and filled with high energy that is infectious to the listener.”  But that isn't the end of it.  The Mip Power Trio has plans for a recording project in mid-late 2011...so stay tuned.

Solo, Mip has performed on stage with the likes of Juno and Grammy Award winning Alex Cuba and has toured with the soulful, slide-guitar-conquering Rachelle van Zanten (formerly of Painting Daisies).

Since the formation of the Mip Power Trio the band has played numerous shows around Toronto and surrounding areas.  In July 2011 the Mip Power Trio will be invading BC for a mini tour and as a headlining act for Midsummer Music Festival 2011 (Smithers, BC).

If you blew a breath of fresh air into the dead corpse of rock n' roll your Frankenstein's monster might turn out a bit like Mip.
